Simon joined 51ÂÒÂ× in 2019 having previously been with property consultancy Montagu Evans where he led various public sector business rates instructions covering a diverse range of properties including fire stations, police stations, ambulance stations, hospitals, health centre, bus stations and local authority car parks.?
Simon takes a proactive approach to his rating work, leading discussions in centres including Watford, Brent Cross, Hatfield Galleria, Wood Green and Maidenhead. Where negotiations do not result in an acceptable offer of a reduction, Simon will pursue the appeal through the Tribunal system. He has appeared as an expert witness on behalf of clients including McDonald¡¯s, Starbucks, Subway and Ann Summers amongst others. Simon has also been involved in Upper Tribunal appeals on behalf of Harrods and McDonald¡¯s.?
Simon advocates strongly for reform of the business rates system has been quoted in both Property Week and Shopping Centre journal. Simon is a Chartered Surveyor, a member of the Rating Surveyors¡¯ Association and Simon also works as an Assessor for RICS.?
